Roussanne 2020 | William Chris Vineyards
Texas High Plains
his wine just won the 2021 Judge’s Selection Medal for Best White in Texas at TEXSOM!
About this wine:
One of the three main Rhône white varieties, Roussanne is noted for its floral aromatics and a refreshing acidity that has won over many new fans in Texas. A touch of Marsanne is added for structure, and a partial secondary fermentation was given to round out the body and add another layer of depth. Notes of lemon, apricots, beeswax and cantaloupe with a clean and refreshing finish. Best served chilled and a great aperitif or paired with lighter dishes.
95% Roussanne & 5% Marsanne were fermented separately in 40% Oak Fermenters, 15% Concrete, 45% Barrel Fermented for 24 days. Aged in 40% Oak Fermenter, 15% Concrete, 45% Barrel (10% new French Oak) aged for 7 months. 13.9% ABV 0.0 RS, 5.8 TZ.
Located just down the road from Lost Draw Vineyards in Terry County, La Pradera Vineyards is owned and farmed by the Paddack and Timmons families. Their vines are planted on Amarillo fine sandy loam that sits over a clay base and calcareous (limestone) sub-soil.
Perfect Pairing: Skewers of cantaloupe and brie wrapped in prosciutto and drizzled with fresh lemon juice and cracked black pepper.
